Artist painting vibrant geraniums in pots

Biography

Born in Hungary in 1946, Andrew and his family immigrated to Canada in 1957 after escaping the turmoil of the Hungarian uprising against the Russian invasion. After arriving on the East Coast of Canada, their journey eventually led them to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Although Andrew spent his early adulthood employed as a topographical draftsman, his love of art was always with him. He began working with oils and painting his surrounding landscape. A move to the interior of BC gave him more inspiration with the vast mountains, lakes, and wildlife. In the early 1980’s he started to paint wildlife and sell his works through small local shows and galleries. This self taught artist was starting to see his talent evolve through developing his own recognizable style.

Andrew considers himself extremely fortunate to be able to thrive in the constantly changing art world. Never changing his realistic style or subject material over the years has shown how dedicated he is to his work and his love of landscape.

Preservation of our world and the beauty that surrounds us is what this artist wants to convey with every brushstroke. To be able to evoke one’s memory of a hike, family camping trip, or special place visited is the vision that Andrew has with his work. He hopes each painting will be a window to our precious world and a reminder that we should never take it for granted.

The opportunity he has been given to make a living and convey an important message at the same time is what drives him to the next canvas. This is what makes his work unique and has enabled him to stand the test of time. Numerous one man shows and group exhibits have allowed Andrew to travel to Hong Kong, Switzerland, Germany, England, Austria, New Zealand, as well as throughout the US and Canada.

His work can be found in numerous corporate and private collections around the world.
He has become one of Canada's most recognized nature artists for a style that captures both breathless images and a reverence for realism.
